Background
My life was shaped by the serene landscapes of the Midwest, where I shared my days with my family and beloved dog. Though devoid of typical experiences, my childhood was filled with the enchanting world of music.
By the age of fourteen, I was already teaching piano and vocal lessons to sixteen students. However, it was my love for composing that truly ignited my soul. The melodies I crafted eventually transformed into poignant poems and captivating short stories, each a window into my most personal and intimate emotions.
My writing reflects my inner world of truth, hope, and forgiveness. Today, I dedicate my time to nurturing my creative side through the power of the written word.
Growth
Shyness hid my emotions from a very early age. When I began my music career, however, it became easier to express those hidden emotions through the beautiful notes of the classic composers. Over time, music dissolved my bashful tendencies and replaced them with a quiet confidence...at least, on stage.
At the direction of my professor, I began writing music as an exercise in theory and chord progressions. Soon afterward, I secretly wrote my own music...then, lyrics to go with my haunting melodies.
Predictably, lyrics led to personal poems...which led to short stories. Finally, I birthed a non-fiction novel based on a true-life story, which offers hope - not only for me but for anyone questioning themselves in this journey we call life. What remains is my humble offering of the time-tested ingredients of our moment on this earth - truth, faith, the Golden Rule, hope, love...and forgiveness. In the end, they're all we have, aren't they?
Style
Words are power. A power that can change everything. I didn't know I could write...until I did. But I have no interest in fabricating a story. Instead, what I write about is the truth. Bad or good...wrong or right...at least, it is the truth. And for me, truth is one of the most powerful things in our human existence.
Once Upon a Lifetime (Deception - Struggle - Redemption), my novel in trilogy form, is based on a truly incredible revelation that burst out of me with no planning or forethought. It simply...happened. While I don't claim to be wise, I kindly offer this writing, based on a true life story, for your thoughtful consideration. My words are my humble gift to you.
